Sketchfab Releases First WebVR Animated Short

NEW YORK, NY – In partnership with the virtual studio platform Artella, Sketchfab gathered together an incredible team of industry professionals from the likes of Disney, Pixar, and Weta to create “Lily & Snout,” the world’s first animated short in WebVR.

The team, led by director Tim Rudder and producer Bobby Beck, combined additional talented artists from the Sketchfab community in the endeavor.

By leveraging WebVR technology, Sketchfab is able to bring Hollywood-quality VR storytelling to every corner of the Web, including the feeds of social media giants Facebook and Twitter, without the need for proprietary software or an app download. VR delivered directly to a browser that can immediately be experienced with compatible headsets including Google Cardboard, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive.

The premiere brings with it the ability for all content contributors to add traditional (2D) and 3D-positional audio to any scene on Sketchfab has opened up an entirely new dimension for interactive 3D and VR delivered online.
