Cogswell College Highlights New Programs

LOS ANGELES — Sunnyvale, CA’s Cogswell College (www.cogswell.edu), a regionally accredited institution that offers a curriculum fusing digital arts, engineering and entrepreneurship together, showcased its Animation program at this year’s SIGGRAPH show. The school also introduced its new Black Collar Immersion Program, which is a precursor to the upcoming launch of Cogswell’s new Masters in Entrepreneurship & Innovation (MEI) Program.
The Black Collar Immersion Program will be held September 13-15 and again on October 11-13, 2012. The MA degree prepares people to be “Black Collar” entrepreneurs who combine artistry and creativity together with technology know-how and business expertise. The Black Collar Immersion Program engages participants with their peers in an intensive, hands-on and highly interactive workshop environment.

Cogswell’s Project X Program:  The Essentials of Animation Film Production is an invitation-only production class that incorporates every component of animation film production for the big and small screen. The schedule mirrors a production company — long hours, demanding deadlines and industry-leading software from Pixar. Students integrate all the disciplines of CG production, including animation, modeling, texturing, effects, rigging, lighting, rendering, compositing and production management. The student are also exposed to artists from companies such as ILM, PDI/DreamWorks, Electronic Arts and Sony Pictures Image Works.

Cogswell hosted several in-booth talks throughout the SIGGRAPH show, including “Secrets Behind High-End Animated Film Production” (Tuesday & Wednesday at 10:30am and 1:30pm), “Creative Ventures for Black Collar Professionals” (Tuesday & Wednesday at 11:30am and 2:30pm), “A Crowd Production at DreamWorks Animation” (Tuesday & Wednesday at 12:30pm), and “Deadlines, Self-entitled Students & Crazy Directors” (Tuesday & Wednesday at 3:30pm).
