HOOT gets VFX boost from BOXX workstation

BOXX Technologies announced that Lee Roderick, freelance compositor, completed the majority of visual effects elements produced for HOOT using the 3DBOXX 7300 (now 7400) Series Workstation.

New Line Cinema's HOOT is a motion picture adaptation of Carl Hiaasen's Newbery Honor family bestseller and premiered nationwide on May 5, 2006.

With a VFX post crew consisting of four compositors and one colorist, the team used Autodesk Combustion with RE:Vision plug-ins and Adobe Photoshop on 3DBOXX Series 7400 Workstation to deliver 130 shots for the feature film. The 3DBOXX workstation acted as the "finaling" station for the team's contracted 130 shots. While all of the shots originated at the facility, 80% of the contracted 130 shots for HOOT were done on the 3DBOXX workstation from start to finish.

In additional to Roderick's work for HOOT, he has also used the 3DBOXX 7400 Series Workstation processors to create more than 150 shots for the 2005 motion picture Little Manhattan and the main title sequence for the 2006 motion picture Blind Guy Driving.
