Red2 Integrates Web Workflow

The latest version, Red2, adds features such as export to Macromedia Flash and Quicktime; Bezier rotoscoping for soft-edged moving mattes; the ability to import, animate, and extrude resolution-independent EPS files (which allows users to fly logos with 3D extrusions and reflection maps); animated text paths; a text warper; and vector drawing tools with random jitter control. Red2 also allows users to create 3D composites using Z-Space containers for intersecting video layers in 3D space.

This plug-in suite provides NLE users with an integrated, resolution-independent vector graphics engine for creating graphics, text, and paint simultaneously for both video and Web distribution. With Red2, they have the choice of exporting straight to Flash and Quicktime from within the host NLE system, or of working offline, using the standalone Boris Red2 Keyframer, which allows animators and editors to re-purpose video title and paint animation directly onto the Web.

Boris Red2 will be available in the fourth quarter of this year for $1995. The program runs on Power Macintosh and Windows 98/NT/2000 platforms. Supported NLE hosts include Adobe Systems' Premiere and After Effects, Apple's Final Cut Pro, Avid's AVX systems, Canopus's Rex Edit, In:Sync's Speed Razor, Discreet's Edit, and several others.
