Research Challenge
Research Challenge results will be presented today from 2 pm to 3:30 pm in Theater 411. In this special session, teams that have worked on this year's Research Challenge present their solutions.
 

Disney Learning Challenge
Final judging of the Disney Learning Challenge takes place today outside Room 408 AB. The Challenge is an open competition sponsored by Disney Research with the goal of finding new and creative ways to use technology to make learning fun for children.
 

Reception
Attendees with a full conference badge are invited to the SIGGRAPH Reception tonight from 8 pm to 10 pm at the Westin Bonaventure Ballroom. Mingle with the movers and synergize with the shakers as the international computer graphics community gathers for its biggest social event of the year.

Posters offer a lightweight, low-tech method for presenting student, in-progress, and late-breaking work. Posters are displayed throughout the conference for attendees to browse at their leisure.
 

Computer Animation Festival
SIGGRAPH invites attendees to immerse themselves in some of the world’s most innovative and stimulating computer-generated animation and visual effects.
 

Nvidia Invite
Nvidia is showing off a host of new Quadro solutions, announcing new developments with ray tracing, and featuring some cool systems from Dell and HP, plus display solutions from Barco.

Legend 3D, having grown from a staff of 40 to more than 250, has become the largest 2D-to-3D conversion company in the nation, with the aid of Southpaw Technology and Integrated Media Technologies (IMT), says a company spokesperson.

NewTek LightWave 10
NewTek, provider of 3D animation and video products, has announced NewTek LightWave 10, the next generation of its professional 3D modeling, animation, and rendering software. LightWave 10, combining CORE Technology with enhanced Modeler and Layout, is being considered the most extensive upgrade in years to LightWave’s production-proven workflow.
 

SpheroCamHDR
Spheron-VR AG is presenting its latest version of the HDR Camera – the SpheroCamHDR. The technology has grown, as has its adoption within the VFX industry. It is today being used by many industry players, such as: The Mill – London for 3D advertising productions and Sony Pictures Imageworks for use in the production of major Hollywood feature films.

Autodesk Mobile Games Curriculum and Instructor Certification
Autodesk Inc. has released three new training modules as part of the Autodesk Animation Academy 2011 curriculum for secondary schools. The modules provide students with tools and a curriculum to help develop the skills needed to create mobile game applications.

Sony Pictures Imageworks and Industrial Light & Magic announced Alembic, a co-developed, open-source project, during a press conference at SIGGRAPH 2010 in Los Angeles. The new computer graphics interchange format is designed to enable the efficient storage and exchange of animation and visual effects scenes across multiple software applications.
 

Jim Henson's Creature Shop Debut
For the first time ever, the Henson Digital Puppetry Studio performs a digital character in real-time stereoscopic 3D (depth effect with active shutter glasses). The Emmy-award winning technology behind the hit animated series “Sid the Science Kid” breaks new ground in real-time performed animation by rendering two full HD video streams, eye-distance apart, in parallel, to generate this new 3D experience.
 

Nvidia Booth with Barco Technology
Nvidia has selected Barco as its partner for displays, projectors, and image processing solutions to demonstrate its new professional graphics technology at SIGGRAPH 2010.
