Artist: Celt

"Celt"

"Celt" was created in 3-D MicroStation, modeled and raytraced within ModelView, and retouched to final form in Adobe Systems' Photoshop. It features a Gaelic version of O'Connor, as well as a brief Gaelic phrase on the triangles. The Latin inscription 'FOC HOC FECIT' means 'Frank O'Connor made this'. The first line of Rousseau's "Social Contract" is written in French along the top edge. It translates roughly to 'Man is born free, but is everywhere in chains'.

The actual visual structure is a kind of stylized landscape/still-life. The primary imagery refers to surveying/engineering and how technology (computer graphics, for example) is replacing much of the older methodology.
