Artist: Guillermo Leal
The image on the left was created by Guillermo Leal of Evolucion Visual (Garza Garcia, N.L., Mexico) for the 1998 Lightscape Image Contest. Leal, who won with this image, used mostly AutoCAD and Lightscape, although some parts were modeled and optimized in 3D Studio Max. He also used Photoshop for textures, which were generated from photos. If you're wondering what the image on the right is, it's a photo of the actual interior of the building. Pretty amazing, huh!
