Alex Harman used a stereo-microscope view the dragonfly specimen for this model. The orchid is a common Phaeleanopsis.
Modeling tools included the subdivision surfaces in both Maya and Electric Image Modeller, with rendering in Maya.
Photo-compositing was done in Photoshop.
