Snapping lines
Ileana Frometa Grillo, a native of Venezuela, is a professional artist now residing in Laguna Beach, CA, USA. She has used Painter and Photoshop since 1993 and works solely on Macintosh computers. Her current palette consists of a PowerMac 7500 with 400-MHz G4 processor upgrade, 350 MB of RAM, 17-inch NEC Monitor, 13 GB hard drive, LaCie CD-RW, Wacom Intuos 6x8 inch tablet, HP ScanJet scanner, and a Canon S-10 2.2 megapixel digital camera.
Grillo explains the creative process for her image: " 'Snapping lines' is a construction term that describes how well a building fits the original blueprint. The image was initially intended as a cover for a book that bears the same title. The figure in the foreground was drawn with Painter 6.0.3. The final assembly of the collage was achieved with Photoshop 5.5 using a few stock images but mostly pictures captured with my digital camera in and around my home in Laguna Beach. Snapping Lines was selected as a finalist in the MacWorld Expo 2000 competition and is part of a travelling digital art show appearing in galleries across the country."
