Austin, Texas - Boxx Technologies Inc., maker of high-performance computing systems for visual effects (VFX) professionals, has released the RTX 8400 Series, specifically designed to handle intense digital intermediary (DI) and compositing workloads.
The RTX 8400 is powered by Dual Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5400 Series processors and offers the freedom to play back 4K, 2K, high-definition (HD), standard-definition (SD), and high-definition Video (HDV) at full resolution in real-time.
The RTX 8400 takes advantage of key features in popular DI, compositing, and color grading applications, such as Assimilate Scratch, Iridas Speedgrade, Autodesk Toxik, Autodesk Combustion, and eyeon Fusion. The RTX features a high-performance, scalable, internal storage sub-system that achieves the high-speed disk throughput required for work with uncompressed multilayer 4K, 2K, HD, SD, or HDV material.
The RTX chassis is designed to house up to 24 hot-swappable data drives in addition to two system drives. Using a RAID configuration, the drives can generate up to 1GB/s of storage throughput that loads high-resolution data in memory for DI or compositing work.
The RTX 8400 Series can come configured as a 2K Review/Compositing Station or as a 2K Review Station with Capture capability from the camera. Both configurations can include either Iridas FramecyclerHD or Assimilate Scratch and are available through BOXX and its worldwide network of resellers. Prices vary with system configurations.
