Palo Alto, Calif. - HP announced the addition of the "Shanghai" 45nm Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor to its family of HP workstations.
The HP xw9400 workstation tap the power of a new AMD Opteron processor to deliver extreme performance and low power consumption.
The AMD Opteron processor provides an increase in workstation performance compared to the previous-generation Opteron processor, plus a decrease in power consumption at idle. For high-end workstation applications, such as engineering, 3D digital content creation, oil and gas, and video editing, the HP xw9400 with the new AMD Opteron processor starts at a U.S. list price of $2303 and is available for purchase at www.hp.com/go/workstations.
The HP xw9400 is registered as an Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Gold product, the highest rating available. All HP workstations are more than 90 percent recyclable by weight and incorporate a tool-less chassis design for quick and easy upgrades by hand. Each workstation includes an 80 PLUS power supply, which is more efficient than a standard power supply, reducing both overall energy usage and the amount of waste heat released into the environment. Companies use HP workstations to design everything from running shoes to race cars, animated characters to deep-sea submersibles, and to manage everything from billions of dollars of tradable securities to mission-critical IT environments.
