Mechdyne Upgrades VirtualReality Application Development Tool for the x86 Platform

Marshalltown, Iowa - Mechdyne Corporation released a new version of its professional application programmer interface (API) and library for development of interactive three-dimensional environments.
The new release, CAVELib Version 3.2, adds support for 64-bit operating systems on the x86 architecture, and has been tested and quality-assured for use with both Windows x64 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems.

CAVELib is said to be the most widely used API for immersive visualization. The new release distribution includes both 32-bit and 64-bit libraries, allowing CAVELib users to work in either environment (and maintain the option to recompile applications when needed).

CAVELib Version 3.2 is specific to the Windows and Linux operating systems, as 64-bit versions of the API are already available for IRIX, HP-UX, and Solaris.

CAVELib was introduced in 1996 as a development platform for the CAVE immersive virtual-reality environment which was then being commercialized for applications in areas of research, mechanical design, and medical imaging. The CAVE is currently available in a range of sizes and resolutions from Mechdyne.
