New Orleans - SIGGRAPH 2009
conference chair Ronen Barzel is extending an invitation to attend the
annual industry event in New Orleans this coming August. "Given today's
volatile economic
environment," says Barzel, "it has never been more important to network
with your
peers and to stay up-to-date on the latest advances in our field. In
response, SIGGRAPH has developed an experience for computer-graphics
professionals and academics that cannot be duplicated by any other
event. And for those who would have financial difficulty attending
because the current economic situation has left them unemployed, we
will be offering an opportunity to attend at a discounted rate. We
remain committed to SIGGRAPH's role in bringing our community together
to create opportunities and stimulate advancements in the field."
SIGGRAPH is a program of peer-reviewed papers, classes, and
presentation sessions; the conference's installations provide close-up
views of the latest in digital art and emerging technologies; and the
exhibition brings to you the key innovative businesses in the field.
"The
conference is also home to the internationally recognized SIGGRAPH
Computer Animation Festival, showcasing works from the world's most
innovative and accomplished digital film and video creators. In 2009,
we are building on these traditions and continuing to enhance the
conference to meet your evolving needs," continues Barzel. "The
creative influences and unique characteristics that are deeply rooted
in the New Orleans art, music, architecture, and cuisine closely
correspond to the personalities and interests of the SIGGRAPH community
and I am excited to chair the conference as it returns to one of the
most historic and most culturally rich cities in America. SIGGRAPH is
working on giving back to the New Orleans community through a variety
of outreach programs to support local education in computer graphics,
music, and technology.
"SIGGRAPH is unparalleled in its
ability to allow you to accomplish so many things in one week. Network
with thousands of your peers and industry visionaries, invigorate your
creative spirit, advance your professional career, and capitalize on
the knowledge you gain to address even the most complex issues facing
our industry today," says Barzel. "I know that times are tough for many
of us, but the SIGGRAPH organizing committee, with the help of hundreds
of contributors who will showcase their latest work and ideas, is
putting together an experience that will be a worthwhile investment
both personally and professionally."
