Myrtle Creek, Ore. — From its rocky cliffs and pristine coastlines, to cityscapes and the remote Mauna Loa Observatory, Artbeats announced the release of three new HD collections featuring the overhead beauty of the Hawaiian Islands: Hawaiian City Aerials, Hawaiian Establishment Aerials, and Hawaiian Scenic Aerials. Shot using the RED One Camera, combined with the eclipse gyrostabilized camera system these new collections give Artbeats the unique status of having the largest, and highest quality, library of royalty-free Hawaiian aerial footage available on the Web.
"This shoot provided great opportunities for us," says Artbeats president and lead cinematographer, Phil Bates. "Not only were we the first company to use the eclipse gyrostabilized camera system, but this shoot also served as Artbeats' first time shooting aerials with the RED One camera. We are excited to take such technologically advanced steps to provide the most complete, high-quality stock footage options available."
Utilizing the skills of prominent aerial cinematographer Doug Holgate, whose television and film resume includes 24, Survivor, Brothers and the upcoming feature film Soul Surfer, this highly ambitious, multi-island shoot was accomplished in just a single day. Of the more than 400 shots captured, Artbeats produced over 200 clips of the cities and scenery of Hawaii, an impressive showcase highlighting the accuracy and talent of the Artbeats cinematography team. "There were some very challenging aspects to this shoot," says Bates. "For instance, the elevation at the Mauna Loa Observatory is so high that it's difficult for helicopters to reach, let alone hover for any length of time. We were very fortunate to be able to capture such rare aerial footage."
Hawaiian City Aerials features fly-overs of Hilo, Honolulu, Kahului, Kailua-Kona, Kapaa, Koko Kai, Lahaina, Lihue, Nanakuli, Pearl City, and Waianae.
Hawaiian Establishment Aerials was shot from a higher perspective and features sprawling cities, vast lava fields, the remote Mauna Loa Observatory and more.
Hawaiian Scenic Aerials captures the breathtaking beauty of Hawaii's rocky cliffs, lush canyons, gorgeous waterfalls and pristine coastlines.
