Animation Mentor & Autodesk To Host June 30th Workshop

EMERYVILLE, CA — Online animation school Animation Mentor has partnered with Autodesk to host an all-day animation workshop on Saturday, June 30 at the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley, CA. The event will be highlighted by advanced breakdowns of animated feature film shots.
The following are scheduled to participate in the workshop: Victor Navone, animator at Pixar Animation Studios; DreamWorks Animation animators Peer Lemmers, Robyne Powell, and Sean Sexton; Tippett Studio’s animation supervisor Will Groebe, and animator Chris Mullins; and Autodesk concept designer/senior solutions engineer Marcel de Jong.

These industry professionals will be featured in the live event, “Breaking Down the Animated Shot: Live & Uncut.” The workshop will take place from 8am to 4pm and will provide advanced breakdowns of animated feature film shots, providing insight that’s invaluable to beginning and skilled animators. 

The presentations will combine in-depth demonstrations with detailed descriptions of the challenges, solutions, and overall results. Specific topics include planning, staging, blocking, and reference. The professional animators will also present behind-the-scenes studio feedback and director notes from current and past animated features, including, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, Puss in Boots, How to Train Your Dragon, Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon, Toy Story 3, and Monsters vs. Aliens.
