ROCK HILL, SC and FRANKFURT — 3D Systems has unveiled its ProJet 1200, a new micro-SLA 3D printer ideal for small, precise, detail-rich parts and casting patterns. The company also announced new printer materials and more.
Smaller than most coffee makers, the ProJet 1200 is economical and simple to use. It prints accurate ready-to-use parts and castable patterns that cost less than $1. Priced at $4,900, the ProJet 1200 democratizes access to professional-grade 3D printers for independent jewelers, dental labs and product designers.
This revolutionary micro-SLA ProJet 1200 delivers unmatched part accuracy and surface smoothness. With a 1.69x1.06x7.08 inch print volume, the ProJet 1200 prints 30 micron layers at a 585 dpi resolution resulting in fine feature-details reflecting true-to-CAD accuracy. This printer uses 3DS' new VisiJet FTX Green material - a durable and rigid material that is tailored for plastic prototyping and casting patterns.
3D Systems also announced the immediate availability of two new VisiJet class performance plastics for its ProJet 5000 large-format 3D printer. The new VisiJet M5 Black is a strong, flexible polypropylene-like material that prints high definition parts with intricate feature details that are accented by its midnight black color. VisiJet M5-X is a strong, rigid material with hybrid ABS/polypropylene-like properties that comes in a bright white color and high definition.
In other news, the company is now shipping its Geomagic Capture, a family of powerful, integrated desktop scanner and software tools for professional scan-based design and quality inspection ranging in price from $14,900 to $24,900. Geomagic Capture is available in six configurations, and each package includes a compact, ultra-precise, blue light LED scanner directly integrated with Geomagic software.
