Hollywood, CA – Pixologic, makers of ZBrush, a 3D sculpting application, has released the latest version of the software, 4R7.
ZBrush R7 is packed with major additions. Signature features in ZBrush 4R7 include: ArrayMesh, NanoMesh, and ZModeler with QMesh.
These features are useful throughout the creative process, and enable users to stay within ZBrush for more of the workflow, doing things that were either impractical or impossible to accomplish before now.
Beyond its feature set, the core of ZBrush is being reworked and 4R7 will be the first version of ZBrush that is released with optional 64-bit support. This will allow users to fully harness their machine’s computing power, not only allowing for higher polygon counts but also making it possible to create more art in less time.
The ZModeler is a smart polygonal modeling system designed to simplify the creation process, letting users quickly and dynamically create new shapes. Combined with ZModeler, the new NanoMesh system takes the process of using ZBrush’s InsertMesh features to a new whole level, as 3D models inserted into a mesh can be populated based on a specific
area. This result can then be modified in real time by adding variations to instance scale, offset, angle and multiple alignment options. Duplication systems that allow users to copy instances of any initial mesh have become a classic feature in modeling programs, but ArrayMesh adds another level. ArrayMesh operates in real time as you edit the content of the original mesh or use TransPose action lines to adjust placement, deform the mesh (along with its copies) and much more. ZRemesher 2.0 has made retopologizing easy: With a single click, users can automatically produce organic or hard surface topology without spirals.
Furthermore, with the ZBrush to Keyshot Bridge, users can seamlessly connect ZBrush with Luxion’s KeyShot 5 to produce hyper-realistic and high quality images.
ZBrush 4R7 is a free upgrade for all existing registered ZBrush users. ZBrush 4R7 (Win and Mac) retails $795. KeyShot for ZBrush and the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge can be purchase at the special bundled price of $249 during a limited time. (Regular price is $349.)
