Voters can be a finicky bunch. What captures the hearts of some may not do so to others.
So goes the saga of The Lego Movie. The animated feature is a BAFTA finalist, was a Golden Globe finalist, and a finalist for Outstanding Animation in an Animated Feature Motion Picture in the VES Awards. However, it failed to make the cut when the Oscar finalists were named recently. Nevertheless, the Producers Guild of America honored the film
’s producer, Dan Lin, with the top prize in the Animated Feature category at the PGA Awards.
The Warner Bros. film beat out Big Hero 6, The Boxtrolls, How to Train Your Dragon, and
The Look of Life, most of which are vying for the top prize in the other film-awards lists.
The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures went to
Birdman (Fox Searchlight Pictures) Producers: Alejandro G. Iñárritu, John Lesher, and James W. Skotchdopole.
