PALO ALTO, CA — HP has introduced upgrades to its Z440 and Z640 desktop workstations, providing faster performance and robust memory features. The Z440 and Z640 will incorporate Intel’s new Xeon processor E5-1600 v4 product family.
Some of the key enhancements of the upgrades include up to 4.0GHz dual core performance; faster memory speeds, up to 2400 MHz max memory speed with DDR4 (vs 2133MHz); a higher number of cores, up to 8 cores/16 threads; and optimized AVX behavior.
“Today’s workforce is demanding top-of-the-line technology tools to meet the needs of professionals in power hungry industries, such as engineering, architecture and creative industries” says Ron Rogers, vice president and head of engineering, workstations and thin clients, HP Inc. “Part of our commitment to professionals is to provide our customers with exceptional technology that’s early to market, pushing our workstation R&D team to innovate and push hard to exceed industry standards.”
The Intel Xeon processor E5-1600 v4 product family also offers new technologies, such as the Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0, enabling better single and dual core turbo performance, and Intel Transactional Synchronization Extensions (TSX), delivering performance gains for multi-threaded applications hampered by memory locks. The Z440 and Z640 will begin shipping with the new Intel Xeon processors, starting June 13.
