MARINA DEL REY, CA — Director/motion designer Giovanni Bucci recently completed work on a music video for his own band, Oddko. The Disobey video was produced by Void N’ Disorder (https://voidndisorder.com). Bucci worked closely with his longtime partner, art director/motion designer Paola Rocchetti to create the project, which explores themes such as man vs. machine and nature vs. technology. The Goddess Hekate is a 21st Century nightmare, who ensnares victims and bends them to her will.
Disobey was awarded Best Metal Video and Best Horror Video, with a Nomination for Visually Stunning at the LA Music Video Awards. It was also awarded a Silver Telly for Art Direction, and a Bronze Telly for Music Video.
Bucci, who wrote and performed Disobey, served as DP and cinematographer for much of the project, and also appears as the character of Oddko. The project was shot using a Sony NEX-FS7000 large-sensor cinema camera and Canon cinema lenses. Adobe’s suite of tools was used for post production, including editing, which was handled by Bucci.
Bucci worked with Rocchetti, Stefano Dubay, Alessandro Anzola, Alessandro Chironna, Federico Albanese and Samuele Cisternino to develop the video’s 3D environments. He handled 3D animation, with Hoang Anh Nguyen providing textures. Bucci and Nguyen together created 3D lighting. Bucci’s additional credits include compositing and color correction.
