Caustic’s technology is being featured as part of Autodesk Design Visualization presentations at SIGGRAPH 2009. The CausticRT platform is showcased as part of a ray-traced, interactive virtual walkthrough of a trellis structure designed by the architecture visionary Greg Lynn, rendered with the Brazil Interactive Renderer implemented in Autodesk’s 3ds Max Design 2010 software.
The scene shows the CausticGL API in action with
a multimillion polygon architectural scene. More than 80 complex materials, all
created in 3ds Max Design 2010 and automatically converted to standard
OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL), are required to render the scene. Many
secondary rays are cast through the scene demonstrating effects, such as
shadows, high dynamic range lighting, spherical lens camera, and glossy
reflections in real-time. Scene dynamism is demonstrated showing geometry,
shader, lighting, and camera changes occurring without workflow interruption.
