At the SIGGRAPH 2009 show, MAXON Computer, a
developer of professional 3D modeling, painting, animation, and
rendering solutions, announced Dr. Ing. V. Sassmannshausen (aka Dr.
Sassi), a renowned 3D authority, computer animator, and artist, is
creating a short animated feature film, entitled “Junior
Extraterrestrial” (“JET”), relying on its award-winning CINEMA 4D tool
kit. Sassi will make guest appearances at MAXON Booth #3219, during the
SIGGRAPH 2009 Expo, August 4 – 6, in New Orleans, where he will show
sneak-peeks of the “making of JET” and completed tutorials.
Sassi, who has been working with MAXON’s CINEMA 4D since 1996, is a contributor to the company’s Cineversity resource and education Web site. Sassi is making the film as a solo venture.
A three-minute 3D animated short feature film, “JET” is the story of a curious little space alien whose adventurous spirit takes him on an extended voyage when he visits Earth for the day. Throughout the production of the film, Sassi has been documenting the entire creative and technical process of animating a short feature. The result will be a contribution of more than 200 new tutorials that provide step-by-step instruction as well as various aspects of filmmaking theory. The tutorial series will post to MAXON’s revamped Cineversity Web site scheduled to go live near the end of this year.
Sassi will present highlights of “Junior Extraterrestrial” throughout the SIGGRAPH expo at the MAXON Booth #3219, during exhibit floor hours.
