SIGGRAPH 2013, the world’s premier conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques, concluded the end of July, and since then, CGW has been reviewing the announcements and analyzing the new offerings in order to select its annual best-of-show winners.
The conference and exhibition welcomed more than 17,000 artists, research scientists, gaming experts and developers, filmmakers, students, and academics from 83 countries around the globe to Anaheim.
More than 180 industry organizations exhibited at the conference, representing 15 countries.
There were new companies and those that have long exhibited at the show. There were brand-new products as well as updates to others. And, most of what was exhibited was quite impressive. Yet, there are always some offerings that catch the editors' eyes more than others. Indeed, some products are proven crowd-pleasers, but our awards are not given to those simply with the most enthusiastic users, or the most users. Sometimes a product appears to have great potential as a possible game-changer, or offers a feature or function that should really strike a chord with users. Or, it just simply calls out for attention. Those are the products or technologies that earn the CGW Silver Edge Award.
That said, the following have been selected as winners of the Computer Graphics World Silver Edge Awards for what the editors deem to have been the best of show at SIGGRAPH 2013.
