CGW has officially announced Davant Systems’ Stable Diffusion interface as a recipient of a CGW Silver Edge Award for SIGGRAPH 2023. Selected by CGW's editorial team, the Silver Edge Awards recognize the most innovative and impressive technologies announced or on display at the annual conference.
Out of the many exhibitors participating in SIGGRAPH’s 50th annual conference this year, CGW selected 10 companies for their outstanding technological achievements. These best-of-show selections demonstrate remarkable advancements in the field of computer graphics.
About Davant Systems’ Stable Diffusion Interface
David Shorey from Davant Systems was showing an interesting implementation of Stable Diffusion at the AMD booth at SIGGRAPH 2023. It was an as of yet unnamed application that runs locally and uses sliders for many of the adjustable parameters, giving you a great deal of control over the AI tool.
In this case, a camera was feeding live video into a Puget Systems computer, and every few seconds it would generate a new stylized image from a set of cycling styles. You could dial up the imagination factor for less realistic interpretations. It was cycling in between a number of robots of different artistic styles, then to origami, and then to other variants, etc. The controls allowed a great deal more influence over the final outcome of the images.
A downloadable beta will be available very soon, and will be provided as a subscription service initially running locally, and eventually also offered as a cloud service. Right now, it can be used as an event space AI photobooth type of setup, or as a set tool for creating real-time on-set generated AI backgrounds. Finally, it can be used by utilizing other art medium sources run through the application to create something driven by that medium but enhanced by the AI. —
